Types of Engineered Wood

  1. Plywood

    1. Commercial Plywood - Commercial plywood is the most popular type of plywood in India. It is made up of numerous layers of cross-laminated veneer sheets that are welded together under high heat and pressure using a synthetic resin adhesive. Commercial plywood comes in a variety of grades, including MR (Moisture Resistant), BWR (Boiling Water Resistant), and BWP (Boiling Water Proof). The degree of durability and moisture resistance is described by each grade. They come in standard sizes of 4 feet by 8 feet. Most populat brands in this category are Century, Action Tesa and Greenlam.
    2. Flexi Ply - Flexi plywood is a type of plywood that has been designed to be flexible. It is also known as bendable or flexible plywood. Because it can be easily bent or curved to accommodate diverse forms and designs, it is ideal for making complex furniture pieces, decorative components, and curved surfaces in interior design.

  2. Fibreboard -

Fiberboard is a type of engineered wood product composed of cellulose fibers, usually adhered together with a synthetic resin or binder. It is not as strong as solid wood, however fiberboard is lighter and can be more easily cut and drilled.
    1. Medium-Density Fibreboard (MDF) -is a high-quality composite material that is thinner and denser than regular particle board. It is composed of wood fibers which are compressed and bonded together with resin under high pressure and high heat, creating an incredibly strong material.HDF offers numerous advantages, such as high resistance to wear and tear, high resistance to warping or splitting due to changes in humidity and temperature, a smooth finish which can be used in flooring applications or painted as desired, high moisture resistance along with good compressive strength meaning it can withstand loads transmitted from above or below.
    2. High-Density Fibreboard (MDF) - is a type of manufactured wood created through the process of breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into small fibers. These fibers are then combined with wax and resin and pressed into flat surface boards. MDF is well-known for its high strength, low cost, and resistance to shrinking and warping due to its composite nature.

  3. Particle Board -

Particle board is environment friendly material, made of wood particles glued together, like wood chips, flakes, strands, sawdust, and wood shavings. They are also called chipboards or low-density fiberboards (LDF) due to thier relatively low strength. Some common types of particle board are:
    1. Standard Particle Board
    2. Melamine Faced Chipboard
    3. Laminated Particle Board
    4. Oriented Strand Board
    5. Moisture-Resistant Particle Board
